Desoration is a 5-piece Symphonic Metal band from Christchurch, New Zealand, with a somewhat blackened Death Metal style.
The formative line-up of Desoration which came together in 2020 struggled to maturate both in roster solidity and stylistic direction. With the arrival of a complete lineup in 2023, the project was invigorated with new energy that built momentum enough to see the band play several hometown shows, including a support slot for local legends ZERSTIREN and the release of the 2024 EP ‘Apotechnosis’ – a slab of rapid-fire death metal riffing, blast beats, and general disdain.
In the wake of the EP release, the band realised the raw building blocks were solid but the soundscape required additional depth and texture to fully realise the intended spirit of the project. This prompted the expansion of the soundscape into the symphonic realm and a mild blackening of the songwriting which crystallised the intention and focus of the band’s output. Work on the first full-length album proceeds apace, with a conceptual narrative to steer the lyrical and compositional nature of both the visual and aural art of the album.
